Togo: Digital Market Intelligence, the digital anti-fraud tool that protects consumers and public finances
Togo is taking a new step in the modernization of its economy. The Minister of Economy and Strategic Foresight, Badanam Patoki, launched the Digital Market Intelligence (DMI) platform on Thursday in Lomé. This innovative digital tool aims to revolutionize food market control by putting artificial intelligence at the service of economic regulation.
Deployed by the Industrial and Commercial Food Products Company (SICPA Togo SA), the DMI transforms data collected during control operations into genuine strategic information.
Concretely, the platform enables control agents to more effectively detect fraud and smuggling, improve the traceability of food products, and strengthen market regulation.
Artificial intelligence now provides reliable analyses to anticipate risks and intervene precisely in the field.
“The DMI platform marks an important step in the use of innovative technologies for market regulation and public resource mobilization,” emphasized Minister Badanam Patoki.
For Togolese consumers, this tool constitutes a major advancement in terms of food safety.
By ensuring better product traceability, the DMI helps verify their origin and authenticity. Gone are the days when fraudulent or unfit products could circulate undetected.
For the State, the financial stake is equally significant. By identifying smuggling networks and securing the import chain, the platform contributes to the mobilization of tax revenues, an essential resource for national development.
The DMI reinforces the Automated Marking Solution (SAM), launched in 2020. This initial tool had already proven itself: in five years (2020-2025), it enabled the collection of 35.8 billion FCFA in tax revenues, ensured the tracking of over 2 billion product units, and involved 600 economic operators in a compliance approach.
With the DMI, Togo is shifting into higher gear by combining data collection with predictive analysis.
An advancement that places the country at the forefront of economic regulation in West Africa and offers citizens enhanced protection against the dangers of illicit trade.
