Togo: Construction of social housing/The government sets about promoting a decent living environment

In his vision to create decent living conditions for the Togolese population, President Faure Gnassingbé is working on strengthening actions aimed at improving this framework. In line with the National Development Plan (PND), the project to build 20,000 homes has landed in the Golfe 7 municipality, precisely in Yokoè-Kopégan (1.34 hectares) and Sagbado-Avoèmé (2.64 hectares) in Greater Lomé.

After Kpomé, it is the Golfe 7 municipality that welcomes this ambitious project for the happiness of the local population.

In preparation for the launch of the works scheduled for March, an awareness session was organized for the inhabitants of the area.

On the one hand, it aims to find a solution to overcome the problem of occupation of administrative reserves, which could slow down the execution of the project.

On the other hand, it is about educating the population about the impact of this project on the entire community.

The social housing construction project for the population is a program that will cover the entire territory following the National Territorial Development Plan, a strategic tool presenting the map of regions requiring more social interventions. Already, more than 20,000 homes have been built since 2005.

In addition to social housing, the project also includes the development and management of public and green spaces, the creation of a special fund for housing development, and the adoption of laws regulating the professions of architects, urban planners, surveyors, engineers, and real estate actors.
