Ace Liam: The 16-Month-old prodigy recognized by Guinness World Records

Ace Liam has been recognized as the youngest artist ever by the Guinness World Records. This incredible feat was announced at a press conference on Tuesday, May 14, 2024.

At only 16 months old the artistic journey of Ace began in his mother Chantelle Eghan’s studio when he was just six months old.

«He paints when he sees me painting», Chantelle explained. «When I set up, he pulls up a chair and sits next to me. Initially, at six months, he could barely crawl, but as he grew more mobile, he started mixing and spreading paint that I poured onto the canvas. By 11 months, he was using a paintbrush instinctively, dipping it in paint and spreading it on the canvas just like an experienced artist».

This extraordinary talent has astonished many in Ghana, who were skeptical about a toddler creating meaningful art. However, renowned Ghanaian artist Amarkine Amateifio offers a different perspective.

«All children are born with artistic, scientific, and engineering tendencies. It’s adults who often stifle these talents», Amateifio noted.

«Credit must go to Ace’s family environment, especially his mother, who nurtured his gifts. This achievement calls for a reevaluation of how we raise our children».

While Amateifio doesn’t expect Ace’s accomplishment to spark a widespread interest in painting among children, he sees it as a significant milestone.

«From a young age, children show their natural inclinations. They are here to contribute and make the world better. Ace Liam’s Guinness World Record should inspire parents to pay more attention to their children’s interests, providing the resources and tools necessary for their talents to flourish».

Ace Liam’s record was confirmed following an exhibition of his work in Accra from January 18 to 20, 2024. He surpassed the previous record set by Dante Lamb, who achieved the milestone at three years old in 2003.
