South Africa: Cyril Ramaphosa pledges to put an end to load shedding and promises massive investment to boost the economy

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa announced over the past weekend significant investments in vocational training to revitalize the national economy. This announcement was made during the latest gathering of the ANC ahead of the crucial elections scheduled for May 29.

Faced with unprecedented pressure to maintain its parliamentary majority, the African National Congress (ANC) is emphasizing skills development as an economic driver.

«We will also invest heavily, billions, in training people to acquire skills that can be best utilized in our economy. Our goal is to create quality jobs, and to achieve this, we want to build local industries. We aim for more and more products to be manufactured here in South Africa», said Cyril Ramaphosa.

In addition to economic initiatives, the ANC President addressed the country’s energy crisis.

Ramaphosa assured that concrete measures are being taken to end frequent power outages: «We will also end load shedding. We will complete the work, meaning the excellent work already done to tackle our electricity crisis».

Despite these promises, several polls indicate a decline in support for the ANC, with projections showing support below 50%.

However, it must be said that President Cyril Ramaphosa’s announcements propose an ambitious strategy to revitalize the South African economy and address the country’s energy challenges.
