Germany dominates Scotland 5-1 in Euro 2024 opener

Germany kicked off their Euro 2024 campaign with a dominant 5-1 victory over Scotland at the Allianz Arena.

This resounding win marked a powerful start for Julian Nagelsmann’s team as they aim to reclaim the European Championship, 28 years after their last triumph.

The scoring began in the 10th minute when Florian Wirtz, assisted by Joshua Kimmich, found the back of the net.

Just nine minutes later, Jamal Musiala showcased his talent with a magnificent strike to double Germany’s lead.

The first half concluded with a penalty, converted by Kai Havertz in the 46th minute, after Ryan Porteous committed a foul in the box.

Despite Scotland’s efforts to tighten their defense in the second half, Germany’s Niclas Füllkrug, who came on as a substitute, scored the fourth goal in the 68th minute.

Scotland managed to get on the scoreboard due to an own goal by Antonio Rüdiger in the 87th minute.

However, Emre Can quickly responded with a superb strike during injury time, securing Germany’s 5-1 triumph.

This convincing victory underscored Germany’s strength and sent a clear message to their rivals: they are serious contenders for the title.
