Euro 2024 Group C: England tops Group with draw against Slovenia; Denmark advances, Serbia eliminated

Cologne and Munich, June 25th – The final round of Group C matches in the Euro 2024 concluded with England securing the top spot and Denmark advancing, while Serbia was eliminated.

In Cologne, England faced Slovenia with the knowledge that a victory would ensure they finished first in the group.

Despite their dominant possession, the Three Lions struggled to break down a well-organized Slovenian defense.

The first half ended goalless, with Phil Foden and Harry Kane providing the few moments of excitement for the fans.

The second half saw a continuation of England’s dominance but with little to show for it in the final third.

Slovenia, resilient as ever, held firm to secure a 0-0 draw. England finished atop the group with 5 points, while Slovenia, unbeaten in their last nine matches across all competitions, placed third, earning a historic qualification to the round of 16.

Meanwhile, in Munich, Denmark and Serbia clashed in a match where both sides had everything to play for.

The first half was a tactical battle, with Denmark slightly more threatening, highlighted by Christian Eriksen’s strike in the 21st minute, the only notable chance.

The second half saw Denmark and Serbia continue their chess-like contest, with Denmark attempting ten shots to Serbia’s zero by the 60-minute mark.

Despite their efforts, the match ended in a 0-0 draw. This result saw Denmark advance to the knockout stage, while Serbia, supported by tennis star Novak Djokovic from the stands, was eliminated from the tournament.
