Togo: Building resilience to natural disasters

Togo is strengthening its resilience to natural disasters with the establishment of a National Emergency Operations Center (CNOU). On Wednesday, June 26, in Lomé, the official groundbreaking ceremony for this essential infrastructure took place, presided over by the Minister of Security and Civil Protection, Calixte Madjoulba.

The construction of the CNOU is a result of a partnership between Togo and the United States of America (USA).

The center aims to effectively respond to emergency situations caused by natural disasters, particularly the frequent floods that occur in the country.

The National Emergency Operations Center will play a crucial role in coordinating relief efforts and disaster response.

It will centralize operations, improve communication among the various involved parties, and ensure a swift and effective response to crises.

This initiative is part of a broader strategy to enhance Togo’s resilience to natural hazards.

The collaboration with the United States demonstrates Togo’s commitment to partnering with international allies to improve its infrastructure and crisis management capabilities.

This technical and financial support is vital for the realization of the CNOU and the continuous improvement of Togo’s response capacities.
