Brazil and Colombia draw in intense Copa America 2024 Group stage battle
In a heated encounter at Levi’s Stadium, Brazil and Colombia clashed in the third group stage match of Copa America 2024, held in the United States. Both teams, vying for the top spot in their group, ended in a 1-1 draw.
Brazil, needing a win to secure first place, started aggressively. Bruno Guimaraes had an early attempt, and soon after, Raphinha scored a stunning free-kick from 30 meters, giving Brazil the lead at the 12th minute.
However, Brazil struggled to maintain their attacking momentum, and Colombia took advantage. In stoppage time of the first half, Jhon Cordoba set up Daniel Munoz for the equalizer (45’ + 2).
The second half saw a physical battle with few clear chances. Brazil’s technical errors and Colombia’s solid defense prevented further goals.
Colombia nearly took the lead at the 84th minute when Rafael Borré missed a significant opportunity.
In the final moments, Andreas Pereira’s powerful strike was saved by Camilo Vargas, ensuring the match ended in a draw.
With this result, Brazil finished second in Group D with 5 points and will face Uruguay in the quarter-finals.
Colombia, topping the group, will play against Panama.
