Burkina Faso: Internal security: minister’s order followed to the letter

Following directives from the Minister of Security, Police superintendent Mahamadou SANA, the security forces have swiftly moved into action. These instructions were particularly aimed at addressing the presence of beggars and street vendors believed to have infiltrated urban areas.

In a government statement released on Wednesday, September 4, authorities raised concerns about spies disguised as beggars and vendors. These individuals were suspected of scouting sensitive locations to aid destabilization efforts.

Given the ongoing threats of terrorism and attempts to destabilize the country, Burkina Faso’s leadership remains on high alert, working towards tightening national security.

The minister’s message called for increased vigilance among the public, urging security forces to clear beggars from the streets as a preventive measure against potential imposters.

In response, military authorities quickly removed 317 individuals identified as beggars for security reasons, an action that was welcomed by the Burkinabe population.

The operation was carried out across seven regions in Burkina Faso, with plans to extend it to six additional regions in the coming days. The need for such measures reflects the serious security challenges facing the country.

Citizens are being called upon to remain alert and report any suspicious behaviour via designated emergency numbers: 1010, 16, and 17.

Recent reports had indicated the presence of malicious actors within the population, allegedly recruited by enemies of the state to undermine the country from within.

Since Captain Ibrahim TRAORE and the MPSR came to power, Burkina Faso has been the target of numerous destabilization attempts.
