CAF/ Patrice Motsepe to run for re-election as candidate to the CAF presidency

Patrice Motsepe, President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) since March 2021, has officially announced his intention to seek re-election in the upcoming presidential election scheduled for March 2025.

Amid growing speculation about his candidacy, the South African football leader confirmed his decision following numerous requests from presidents of CAF member associations, zonal union leaders, and other key stakeholders.

In a statement released by the CAF, it was noted: “In response to the calls from various presidents of member associations and key players within the football community, Dr. Patrice Motsepe has decided to stand for re-election in the CAF presidential election set for March 2025.”

As of now, he is the only declared candidate for the position, setting the stage for what could be a significant election in African football governance.

Motsepe’s leadership has been marked by efforts to enhance the development and global standing of African football, making his re-election bid a critical point of interest for the continent’s football community.
