Foot/ Barça: Robert Lewandowski eyes extended stay at FC Barcelona amid future plans

Polish striker Robert Lewandowski could remain at FC Barcelona until 2027, signaling his commitment to the Catalan club despite growing interest from other leagues.

Lewandowski’s current contract runs until 2025, but a key clause allows for a one-year extension if he participates in at least 50% of Barcelona’s matches. Given his consistent presence in the starting lineup, this condition appears almost guaranteed.

At 36, the forward continues to prove his value on the pitch, showcasing remarkable fitness and maintaining his status as a pivotal figure for the team. Even as Saudi Arabian clubs reportedly express interest in signing him, Lewandowski remains focused on competing at the highest level of European football.

Barcelona views the striker’s experience and leadership as crucial assets, particularly as the team seeks to build on recent successes.

However, the club is also mindful of planning for the future, exploring younger alternatives to eventually succeed Lewandowski.

One potential target is Viktor Gyökeres, a promising talent who has caught the attention of Barça’s scouting team. This indicates the club’s proactive approach in ensuring continuity while balancing reliance on its veteran stars.

For now, Lewandowski’s prolonged tenure at the Camp Nou offers stability and leadership, essential for Barcelona’s ambitions in both domestic and international competitions. However, the club must carefully manage this balance between preserving its experienced core and nurturing the next generation of talent.
