Burkina Faso: President Ibrahim Traoré puts good governance at the heart of his policies
Strengthening good governance and combating corruption remain at the heart of President Ibrahim Traoré’s vision for Burkina Faso. On Tuesday, he received the 2023 public report from the Court of Auditors, a key institution overseeing public financial management.
The report, presented by the Court’s President, Latin PODA, reviews activities from 2022, focusing on judicial operations, budget execution, and the management of revenues from extractive industries such as gold.
The findings reveal significant irregularities, particularly in the allocation and use of mining development funds and local projects. Instances of mismanagement have been identified, with some cases referred to the Court’s specialized chamber for further action.
The report also offers recommendations aimed at improving transparency and enhancing the efficiency of public resource management.
