Burkina Faso’s Prime Minister visits military bases, pledges support for anti-terror efforts

At the dawn of the new year, Burkina Faso’s Prime Minister Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo undertook a significant tour of military detachments in the Centre-West region.

Accompanied by key ministers responsible for security, justice, humanitarian action, and health, the visit served to reaffirm the government’s commitment to its forces and the citizens affected by ongoing security challenges.

Acting on behalf of President Ibrahim Traoré, Ouédraogo praised the achievements of the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) in their relentless fight against terrorism.

“Your unwavering dedication is a testament to our resolve to safeguard national sovereignty and secure the Sahelian Alliance’s vision,” he remarked, emphasizing the critical nature of the mission.

The Prime Minister visited several strategic locations, including Lerou, Yinga, Gao, and the Airborne Intervention Brigade in Koudougou.

He highlighted the government’s determination to intensify the fight by equipping troops with enhanced logistical and operational resources.

Burkina Faso’s flag must fly proudly across every corner of our land,” he declared, underlining the significance of reclaiming and maintaining territorial integrity.

Beyond military matters, the visit also focused on humanitarian efforts. In Gao, the government delivered 20 tons of maize to conflict-affected communities, bringing hope and relief to the population.

Residents expressed gratitude with cheers and blessings, underscoring the importance of such initiatives.

Ouédraogo called for collective resilience and expressed his aspiration for 2025 to mark a definitive end to terrorism in Burkina Faso.

The tour bolstered morale among both soldiers and civilians, reinforcing a shared commitment to overcoming the nation’s security challenges.
