AES: Clear progress in the fight against terrorism, Mali stands out after Burkina Faso’s successes

Within the Alliance of Sahel States (AES), the fight against terrorism continues to show significant progress. Following recent successes in Burkina Faso, Mali has once again demonstrated its resilience in the face of terrorist threats.

On January 8, 2025, in the locality of Diangassagou in the Mopti region, the Malian Armed Forces (FAMa) bravely repelled a terrorist attack.

This defense combined ground operations with aerial strikes, resulting in the neutralization of 14 terrorists, the destruction of 9 motorcycles, and the seizure of various weapons, underscoring the tactical superiority of Mali’s defense forces.

Further aerial strikes targeted a fleeing column of terrorists south of Diangassagou, inflicting additional losses on the attackers.

These well-coordinated operations highlight the growing efficiency of AES militaries in dismantling terrorist strongholds, bolstered by strategic cooperation among member states.

They also reflect the unwavering commitment of regional governments to restore peace and ensure the safety of their populations.

These successive victories inspire renewed hope for an imminent and decisive triumph over terrorism within the AES territory.

The exemplary coordination among the alliance’s armed forces demonstrates a strengthening collective resolve, proving that solidarity and determination can overcome even the most persistent threats.
