AES: Reconquering the Sahel, a top Priority for AES countries

The Sahel region, currently under threat due to insecurity caused by terrorist groups, is considered a strategic area, serving as a junction point for the countries of the Alliance for the Sahel States (AES).

Since coming to power, the authorities of the AES countries (Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger) have aspired to liberate this strategically vital zone.

This individual determination has evolved into a shared concern and objective following the establishment of the AES.

The transitional president of Niger, Abdourahamane TIANI, emphasized this goal during his statement on November 23 after discussions with his counterparts in Mali and Burkina Faso.

He stated that one of their aims is to transform this insecure locality into a prosperous zone for the benefit of their states and peoples.

TIANI added that achieving this objective is crucial and requires the support and backing of the populations.

This topic was a key focus during the visit of the transitional president, General Abdourahamane TIANI, to Mali and Burkina Faso on November 23, 2023.

Enlisted among the priorities of the AES, the ambition of authorities to turn the Sahel into a zone of prosperity can be realized through determination and collaborative efforts, involving civilians, military personnel, and the relevant authorities in these concerned countries.
