Gabon: President Oligui Nguéma’s meaningful visit to Port-Gentil emphasizes education, community, and economic development

The President of the Gabonese Transition, Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguéma, is set to embark on a significant visit to Port-Gentil, Gabon’s economic capital, this Friday. Notably, this visit holds personal significance for the President as it marks his return to the Lycée Joseph Ambouroue Avaro, where he completed his baccalaureate (A-Level). The visit aims to strengthen ties with the community and foster patriotism among the students.

In contrast to his activities in Libreville, where the President participated in the national flag-raising ceremony, this visit to Port-Gentil is more centered on the President’s personal connections with his education and the local populace.

Alongside the ceremony at the lycée, President Oligui Nguéma will contribute by presenting a donation of educational materials, underscoring his commitment to advancing education in the region.

Following the lycée ceremony, the President plans to engage with the local population at the Port-Gentil fair and will extend his visit with an overnight stay in the city.

President Oligui Nguéma’s visit transcends educational and social aspects; it also includes a scheduled tour of the Batanga industrial site, developed by Perenco and dedicated to liquefied gas production.

With the plant set to begin operations in the coming months, it holds strategic importance in reducing the country’s LPG imports and bolstering energy independence.

Through reestablishing connections with Port-Gentil, engaging with major industrial projects, and supporting education, President Oligui Nguéma aims to solidify his dedication to Gabon’s socio-economic development while celebrating his roots in the city that shaped him.
