Mali/AES: An alliance between the three countries that is becoming even stronger

Malian Prime Minister, Dr. Choguel Maïga, arrived in Ouagadougou on Friday, December 29, where he met with his Burkinabe counterpart, Dr. Apollinaire Kyélem de Tambèla, and the Minister of Commerce, Serge Poda. During the visit, both Burkinabe officials were honored with distinctions from Mali’s President, Colonel Assimi Goïta – Dr. Kyélem de Tambèla as an Officer of the National Order of Mali and Serge Poda as a Knight of the National Order of Mali, both conferred as foreign titles.

After the ceremony, the two Prime Ministers from Burkina Faso and Mali reportedly headed to Niger for a similar purpose.

This diplomatic exchange further strengthens the ties between the Sahel region’s three countries, which are already interconnected in various aspects.

Having recently united within the Alliance of Sahel States (AES), Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger have committed to mutually defending their territories against terrorism and fostering comprehensive development in the region.

The enduring success of this legitimate and entirely indigenous alliance is anticipated.
