Burkina-Faso/Mining processing plant: Captain Ibrahim Traoré to launch operations

In Burkina Faso, the Transition President and Head of State, Captain Ibrahim TRAORE, is set to officially launch the activities of the mining waste treatment plant in the industrial zone of Kossodo in Ouagadougou on Tuesday, January 23, 2024.

The commissioning of this plant aligns with the strategic choice of the Transition Government to enhance the capture of mining resources and their waste.

The growth of the extractive industry in our country generates tons of waste, and the treatment of these residues was not previously integrated into the value chain.

With the aim of addressing this gap and enhancing the added value of mining exploitation in service of Burkina Faso’s economic sovereignty, it becomes crucial to find endogenous ways and means to fully recover metals from mining residues such as fine coal, slag, ashes, and acidic concentrate.

The mining waste treatment plant aligns with the vision of the Transition President to confer real economic sovereignty to our country through endogenous solutions.
