Burkina Faso/Sport: Hugues Fabrice Zango is still the pride of his Homeland

Burkinabe triple jumper Hugues Fabrice Zango made a triumphant start to his 2024 campaign by clinching the gold medal at the Eure meeting in France on Sunday, January 28. Displaying his exceptional skills, Zango leaped an impressive 17.15 meters to secure his first accolade of the year.

The event marked Zango’s debut at the World Athletics Games, and he did not disappoint.

Facing stiff competition, he managed to outshine his rivals, notably surpassing Cuban Lazaro Martinez, who secured a distance of 16.81 meters, and Algerian Yasser Mohammed Triki, with a jump of 16.66 meters.

This victory adds to Zango’s remarkable achievements, as he had previously claimed the top spot at the World Athletics Championship in Budapest in August 2023.

Notably, in addition to his prowess on the athletic field, Zango successfully defended his doctoral thesis in December of the same year, showcasing his exceptional dedication to both academic and athletic pursuits.

The Burkinabe athlete’s consistent success on the international stage is a testament to his skill, resilience, and commitment to excellence.

As he continues to make waves in the world of triple jump, Hugues Fabrice Zango’s performances are undoubtedly ones to watch in the global athletics arena.
