Burkina-Faso: Reduction in the price of medical examinations, President Ibrahim Traoré strengthens his health policy for the benefit of the people

Upon assuming office, President Ibrahim Traoré has placed a strong emphasis on social welfare, recognizing it as a cornerstone for national development. His vision prioritizes investing in human capital to foster sustainable growth and well-being across the country.

In alignment with these goals, significant strides have been made in the healthcare sector.

President Traoré has taken decisive action to ensure fair and accessible healthcare for all citizens.

This includes a substantial reduction in the costs of essential medical examinations such as hemodialysis, MRI, and CT scans, effective immediately.

Under these new measures, patients requiring dialysis will no longer face the previous 500,000-unit deposit requirement.

Additionally, the fees for CT scans have been halved from 50,000 to 25,000, while MRI costs have been reduced from 100,000 to 40,000.

Furthermore, the administration is actively addressing the shortage of specialized medical personnel by initiating a large-scale recruitment drive for general and pediatric surgeons.

This not only aims to bolster the healthcare workforce but also to mitigate unemployment challenges.

In a parallel effort, the government has announced plans to recruit 5,364 civil servants in 2024, furthering its commitment to social welfare and employment opportunities for the populace.
