Kylian Mbappé faces Mask controversy ahead of France-Netherlands Euro 2024 match

Kylian Mbappé may need to change his protective mask for France’s Euro 2024 match against the Netherlands on Friday.

After suffering a nose fracture against Austria in their opening game, the French captain trained in Leipzig on Thursday wearing a mask provided by the French Football Federation (FFF).

The mask, designed in the colors of the French flag, has sparked a debate due to UEFA regulations.

UEFA rules state that medical equipment worn on the field must be a solid color and should not display team identification or manufacturer logos.

In the current politically charged atmosphere in France, the blue, white, and red mask carries additional significance.

Unless UEFA grants a special exemption, Mbappé will not be allowed to wear the tricolored mask in Friday’s match.

According to “L’Équipe”, the French team is awaiting a decision from UEFA regarding a possible exception for Mbappé’s mask.
