AES/Head of States Summit: A welcome that expresses the admiration and support of the people of Niger

President Ibrahim Traoré of Burkina Faso arrived in Niamey, Niger, on Friday, July 5th, to attend the first summit of the heads of state of the Sahel Alliance.

His arrival at Niamey’s Diori Hamani Airport was met with a jubilant crowd eager to greet and applaud him.

The journey from the airport to the Presidential Palace was lined with throngs of Nigeriens, highlighting the deep admiration they hold for this revolutionary Sahel leader.

Traoré, seen as a noble son of Africa, is celebrated for his unwavering fight alongside his Sahelian brothers for the sovereignty of their states and the continent at large.

This significant turnout also underscored the Nigerien people’s steadfast support for the leaders of the Sahel States Alliance (AES), particularly in their commitment to combating the decade-long terrorist threat undermining regional peace and security.

The people of Niger also voiced their backing for these committed Sahelian leaders, dedicated to the socio-economic development and integration of their region.

Their presence reflected a collective hope for impactful decisions to emerge from this historic summit, guiding the progress of the AES.

The massive public display served as a declaration to the world, and especially to their adversaries, of their pride in their leaders.

It was a clear message of trust in their leadership, seen as being on the right path towards liberation from imperialism and neo-colonialism.
