“Revolutionary Youth on the March” (JeRM): Prime Minister Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo launches the initiative

Prime Minister Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo officially launched the “Revolutionary Youth on the March” (JeRM) initiative on Thursday, April 2, 2026, in Ouagadougou. The ceremony took place at the Thomas Sankara Memorial, on the sidelines of the monthly military tribute ceremony to the father of the August 1983 Revolution and his twelve companions.

This ceremony, held on the first Thursday of every month, saw a particularly large turnout.

The president of the month, the Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, Adjima Thombiano, welcomed the honor bestowed upon his department.

“We are particularly honored that this presidency takes place in a context commemorating the first anniversary of the Popular Progressive Revolution (RPP) and the third edition of the national days of patriotic commitment,” he declared. He described the Memorial as a “sanctuary steeped in history,” inviting every Burkinabe to fight against injustice.

The Minister of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism, Pingdwendé Gilbert Ouédraogo, recalled that this tribute revolves around the concept “Sankara still lives.”

He emphasized the determination of Captain Ibrahim Traoré who, on October 15, 2025, in this very place, took up the torch and swore to restore the memory of the national hero.

He hailed the patriotic mobilization of revolutionaries committed to the cause of the RPP, driven by the ideal of total liberation and shared well-being.

Taking the floor, the Prime Minister saluted the vision and leadership of the head of state. “By proclaiming the RPP on April 1, 2025, the comrade president of Faso marked a clear break with a past that hindered our sovereignty,” he asserted.

According to him, one year later, the people’s adherence to the ideals of the RPP is immense and is bringing about profound transformations. The launch of JeRM embodies this forward-looking patriotic dynamic.
