Laporta confirms Barcelona’s pursuit of Nico Williams, expresses optimism about potential transfer

The potential transfer of Nico Williams to FC Barcelona has been a topic of speculation for months, and President Joan Laporta recently addressed the matter directly.

In an unexpected media appearance, Laporta discussed the possibility of signing the Athletic Bilbao player this summer, shedding light on Barcelona’s clear intentions in the ongoing transfer window.

The club is seeking young, dynamic players to bolster their offensive lineup, and Nico Williams has emerged as a top priority.

Contrary to recent denials of the rumor, Laporta has now confirmed Barcelona’s interest.

Speaking on Catalunya Radio, he expressed optimism about the potential transfer. While he did not guarantee that Williams would join Barcelona next season, he emphasized that the club is financially capable of making the deal happen.

Laporta stated, “We are working to confirm a return to a good economic level. We’ve worked on these operations, and we just need to finish this work. Nico Williams? I like him a lot, but we have to let Deco work. I hope to have good news. When we’re interested in a player, he is motivated to come.”

He concluded by reassuring fans that an economically viable deal for Nico Williams is possible. The situation remains to be closely watched.
