Burkina Faso/Peace effort: When Burkinabe translate their patriotic commitment into concrete action

1 year ago Alfrede Kankabo

For some Burkinabe, the second edition of the National Days of Patriotic Engagement and Citizen Participation was a valuable opportunity to demonstrate their patriotic support for the fight against terrorism in the country.

Responding to President Ibrahim TRAORÉ’s call, groups of Burkinabe citizens mobilized to contribute to the Patriotic Support Fund (FSP), showing their dedication to the national cause. For instance, staff members from educational institutions in the Passoré province, located in northern Burkina Faso, raised 724,400 CFA francs to support the combat forces and aid the authorities in their tireless efforts.

Additionally, the Regional Directorate of Human Rights, Citizenship Promotion, and Peace in the Cascades region donated 200,000 CFA francs to the Patriotic Support Fund.

These contributions were part of the activities planned for the National Days of Patriotic Engagement and Citizen Participation, Act 2, which concluded on October 16, 2024.

These actions highlight the steadfast commitment of citizens to support the efforts made towards the liberation and sovereignty of their nation.

It is important to note that the authorities of Burkina Faso have opted for endogenous financing of the war against terrorism, and the Patriotic Support Fund plays a crucial role in this strategy.

Thanks to the contributions of Burkinabe citizens, the fighting forces have been able to strengthen their operational capacities, both in terms of military equipment and qualified personnel.

This has enabled the “Land of honest People” to achieve significant progress against enemies who once dominated the bushlands of Burkina Faso and the Sahel.

The continuous efforts to reclaim national territory, along with the ongoing contributions of Burkinabe citizens, remain highly encouraged.
