During a meeting with the executive in Bamako, Mali’s President, General Assimi Goïta, extended his congratulations to the newly appointed Prime Minister, Abdoulaye Maïga, and his government. Acknowledging their expertise, he expressed confidence in their ability to succeed in the significant responsibilities entrusted to them.

Key Priorities for the New Government

The President emphasized the critical timing of this new administration, which takes office during a pivotal phase of major national reforms. He outlined three strategic priorities to guide the government’s efforts:

  1. Strengthening defense and security to stabilize the nation.
  2. Advancing political and institutional reforms to modernize state governance.
  3. Addressing citizens’ essential needs, particularly in socio-economic sectors.

Additionally, General Goïta stressed the importance of creating favorable conditions for credible and peaceful elections, which will mark the end of the Transition period.

Call for strategic planning and accountability

To ensure effective governance, the President tasked the Prime Minister with developing a comprehensive action plan, supported by detailed sector-specific plans. These documents must include measurable objectives, performance indicators, and clear timelines to track progress.

In his address, General Goïta urged the government to work diligently and with unwavering commitment to meet the aspirations of the Malian people. He reaffirmed the shared goal of building a sovereign, stable, and prosperous Mali through focused and strategic governance.
