Burkina Faso/ False rumors about presidential subsidy denounced by the Burkinabe Presidency
In recent days, a baseless and malicious rumor has been circulating on social media, falsely claiming that President Ibrahim Traoré is granting a subsidy of 85,000 FCFA to every citizen in celebration of Christmas.
This fabricated story, often accompanied by a link encouraging individuals to share personal information, has no factual basis and appears to be a deliberate attempt to mislead the public.
The Directorate of Communication and Press Relations (DCRP) of the Presidency has strongly condemned this fraudulent scheme, emphasizing that official information regarding the President’s initiatives is exclusively communicated through recognized government channels.
The Presidency has warned those behind this misinformation campaign that legal action may be taken against them.
In the meantime, citizens are urged to exercise caution and not fall victim to such deceptive tactics, which are designed to create confusion and tarnish the image of President Ibrahim Traoré.
This incident serves as a reminder to rely solely on credible sources for updates on national affairs and to remain vigilant against attempts to manipulate public opinion.
