The National Gendarmerie’s Security and Intervention Group (GSI-GN) hosted the rotational flag-raising ceremony, presided over by Mr. Mahamadou SANA, Minister of Security.

This solemn event provided an opportunity for the minister to honor the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP), who are tirelessly engaged in the fight against terrorism.

In his address, Minister Mahamadou SANA expressed his gratitude and admiration for the FDS and VDP, praising their unwavering dedication and sacrifices in service to the nation.

He highlighted their daily commitment, often under challenging conditions, without rest or weekends, to ensure the safety of the population and create an environment of peace for events like this ceremony.

“You are the guardians of our peace and stability,” he stated, commending their courage and selflessness.

The Minister of Security also paid heartfelt tribute to the victims of terrorism, including internally displaced persons and the families of fallen soldiers and civilians.

He emphasized that every life lost in this struggle is a tragedy that strengthens the collective resolve to defeat terrorism.

“Our predecessors have paved the way, and it is our duty to complete this mission,” he declared, urging continued efforts to eradicate this scourge.

Mr. Mahamadou SANA stressed the importance of maintaining unity and cohesion among the FDS, VDP, and the population.

He reminded everyone that the fight against terrorism is a long-term battle requiring unwavering determination and national solidarity.

“Security is everyone’s responsibility, and every citizen has a role to play in this fight,” he said, encouraging the defense forces to remain vigilant and resilient.

The ceremony served as a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made by the FDS and VDP, as well as the collective responsibility to support their efforts in safeguarding the nation’s peace and stability.
