Morocco poised to become Africa’s football powerhouse

Morocco is stepping into the spotlight as Africa’s leading football hub, with its co-hosting of the 2030 FIFA World Cup marking a transformative moment for the nation and the continent.

Strategically positioned between Europe and Africa, Morocco is leveraging this opportunity to boost its sports industry and strengthen its global influence.

The timing is ideal, as Africa’s sports industry, though contributing just 0.5% to the continent’s GDP, is projected to grow by 8% in the next 3-5 years.

Morocco’s leadership will be on full display at the World Football Summit (WFS) in Rabat on April 9-10, 2025.

The summit will address critical topics such as infrastructure, women’s football, sports tourism, and pan-African collaboration.

By hosting the 2030 World Cup and fostering regional unity, Morocco is not only enhancing its own football ecosystem but also driving Africa’s sports industry forward, solidifying its role as a key player on the global stage.
