Liptako-Gourma authority pledges support to Alliance of Sahel States for stronger confederation

On March 6, in Ouagadougou, the Liptako-Gourma Authority reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the Alliance of Sahel States (AES) in building a robust and sovereign confederation.

The Authority pledged to assist the three AES member states—Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger—in establishing the confederal framework, leveraging its expertise and experience to aid decision-making and project implementation, particularly in development initiatives.

As a key partner, the Liptako-Gourma Authority stands as a reliable pillar for the AES, offering critical support to address security and development challenges in the shared Liptako-Gourma region.

The AES’s renewed focus on development, peace, security, and sovereignty has garnered widespread support, attracting various organizations eager to facilitate the realization of its ambitious projects and programs.

Established in 1970 by Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger, the Liptako-Gourma Authority was designed to promote security and development across its member states.

Its renewed collaboration with the AES underscores a shared vision for a self-reliant and prosperous Sahel, aligning with Africa’s broader aspirations for sovereignty and resilience.

This partnership marks a significant step toward achieving sustainable progress in the region.
