Sudan’s National team coach James Kwesi Appiah resolves pay dispute, set to rejoin squad

Sudan’s national team coach, James Kwesi Appiah, recently made headlines after boycotting the Falcons of Jediane’s training camp in Saudi Arabia. The Ghanaian coach refused to join the team in protest over unpaid salaries by the Sudanese Football Federation.

The camp was part of preparations for crucial 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Senegal (March 22) and South Sudan (March 25).

The team travelled without Appiah, who remained in Ghana, but tensions have since eased. According to Africa Soccer, a resolution has been reached, and the 64-year-old coach is expected to rejoin the squad by Friday or Saturday.

Currently leading Group B with 10 points from 4 matches, Sudan is on the verge of making history by qualifying for their first-ever World Cup.

Appiah’s return could mark a turning point for Sudanese football as the Falcons aim to secure their place on the global stage.
