Football/ Chelsea turn to strasbourg’s Emegha in striker search

Chelsea have identified Strasbourg’s Emmanuel Emegha as a potential solution to their striker shortage, with the London club closely monitoring the Dutch forward’s impressive Ligue 1 campaign. The 21-year-old has emerged as one of France’s most exciting attacking talents this season, netting 14 goals to sit fifth in the scoring charts.

Emegha’s physical attributes make him particularly appealing to Chelsea’s recruitment team. The 1.95m striker has been clocked as Ligue 1’s fastest player this season at 37.72 km/h while demonstrating remarkable work rate with 25 sprints per game – more than double the league average for forwards.

His combination of pace, power and improving technical ability has drawn comparisons to some of the Premier League’s most successful target men.

The potential transfer is facilitated by both clubs sharing ownership under the BlueCo consortium, with preliminary discussions already understood to have taken place.

While Newcastle United have also shown interest, Chelsea’s structural relationship with Strasbourg gives them a clear advantage in negotiations for a player signed for just €13 million last summer.

For Emegha, the move represents an opportunity to prove himself in the Premier League and potentially force his way into Netherlands contention. Chelsea view the deal as a cost-effective alternative to pricier targets like Osimhen, with the added benefit of acquiring a player whose development they can closely monitor within their multi-club network. Strasbourg stand to make significant profit on their initial investment for a striker whose market value has already surpassed €20 million.
