Burkina Faso: Sanitation at Camp Sangoulé Lamizana/Burkinabe army committed beyond the security framework

The National Armed Forces of Burkina Faso have once again demonstrated their dedication to serving the nation on all fronts. At Camp General Aboubacar Sangoulé Lamizana, soldiers joined forces with the women of the Green Brigade of Ouagadougou for a large-scale sanitation campaign.

Armed with brooms and shovels, the troops and brigade members worked side by side to clear weeds, clean out gutters, and collect waste throughout the camp. This day of civic action, held under the banner of citizenship, reflects the armed forces’ commitment beyond their core security duties.

This initiative carries a strong political message from the military institution: to serve the people in all aspects of daily life. According to the General Staff, “this patriotic effort contributes to building a healthy living environment and strengthening the bond between the army and the population.”

By actively engaging in public hygiene efforts, the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) reaffirm their full involvement in sustainable development, complementing their primary mission of protecting national territory. It is a clear demonstration of their adherence to the values of discipline, solidarity, and respect for the common good.
