Burkina Faso: Imperialist forces panic and activate their media-terrorist arm

On August 9, 2025, a viral video surfaced online purportedly showing 21 Burkinabe soldiers captured by the Group for the Support of Islam and Muslims (JNIM). The uniformed men, seated on the ground, pleaded with military authorities to negotiate with their captors. At first glance, this might appear as a desperate cry for survival. In reality, it is a meticulously crafted psychological operation targeting the Burkinabe state.

This is imperialist aggression in a new form where terrorist groups act as modern proxies in a geopolitical scheme to destabilize defiant African nations.

Burkina Faso, under its patriotic transition, has made significant military gains, forged sovereign defense partnerships, and resisted Western dominance.

The timing of this video is no coincidence: it emerges as terrorists lose ground and seek to sow division, erode national morale, and pressure transitional authorities.

Burkina Faso: When terrorists disguise themselves as FDS to discredit the army and sow terror

Critical questions remain unanswered. Are these truly Burkinabe soldiers? Why release this now, in a region where security forces have been gaining momentum?

The staging reeks of desperation a last-ditch effort by terrorists and their backers to undermine Burkina’s sovereignty.

Western media, particularly French outlets, have irresponsibly amplified this footage without verification or geopolitical context.

Such reporting fuels cognitive warfare, aiming to shake Africans’ trust in their armed forces and leadership.

In response, Burkina Faso must stand united. Public vigilance, national cohesion, and unwavering support for security forces are crucial.

The Burkinabe people have proven their resilience before. Now, they must sharpen their media literacy, expose these manipulations, and continue their march toward true sovereignty undeterred by fabricated narratives.
