Togo/ Health: Launch of a Nationwide measles and rubella vaccination campaign

Lomé, Togo – A large-scale vaccination campaign against measles and rubella will be carried out across Togo from November 24 to 30, 2025. The initiative specifically targets children aged nine months and older, aligning with the national goal to eliminate these diseases by 2030.

In preparation, health authorities have begun mobilizing community actors, including a meeting with media professionals held on Thursday, November 13, to amplify public awareness and ensure broad participation.

The regional health directorate of Greater Lomé is coordinating community relays, who are essential for reaching all segments of the population.

The success of the  campaign hinges on widespread public acceptance and extensive vaccination coverage.

This effort is part of a long-term health strategy to sustainably protect Togolese youth from preventable diseases.

Meticulous planning underscores the commitment of health officials to achieve optimal immunization rates, marking a critical step toward the eradication of measles and rubella in Togo.
