Burkina Faso advances agricultural industrialization with tomato processing plant

Under President Ibrahim Traoré’s governance, Burkina Faso is pursuing a broad transformation, emphasizing agricultural modernization and industrialization as key development pillars. A notable example is the tomato processing factory under construction in Tenkodogo, representing the national push toward value-added production.

The project, overseen by the Community Entrepreneurship Promotion Agency (APEC), is now 70% complete.

On Saturday, January 10, 2026, APEC Director General Karim Traoré visited the site to monitor progress and urged acceleration toward finalization.

Machinery installation is scheduled for March 2026, a milestone expected to boost local industrial capacity.

The plant exemplifies the government’s strategy to link agriculture with industry, creating sustainable economic opportunities.

In line with this, Karim Traoré called on farmers in the Nakambé region and surrounding areas to form cooperatives, aiming to build strong partnerships that ensure steady supply and enhance community benefits.

This initiative is part of a wider agropastoral revolution and infrastructure modernization drive, illustrating Burkina Faso’s commitment to homegrown industrial growth and food sovereignty.
