Burkina Faso: Agenda for the meeting between security Minister Mahamadou Sana and the US Ambassador
In a gesture underscoring the strength of bilateral ties, the Minister of Security, Mr. Mahamadou Sana, received Her Excellency Ms. Joann Lockard, Ambassador of the United States of America to Burkina Faso, in a meeting this Tuesday afternoon.
This courtesy visit, taking place at the start of the year, allowed for a cordial and substantive exchange on the prospects for cooperation between the two nations.
Ambassador Lockard took the opportunity to extend her warmest New Year’s wishes to Minister Sana and all his collaborators, expressing the consideration of the United States and respect for the essential work carried out by Burkina Faso’s Security Department.
This courteous, protocol-driven exchange paved the way for a positive assessment of past collaboration.
The American diplomat particularly commended the quality and productivity of bilateral cooperation over the past year, with an emphasis on the security dimension.
Her description of the 2025 collaboration as “fruitful” reflects the U.S. side’s recognition of joint efforts and progress made in an area critical to the stability of Burkina Faso and the region.
This meeting reinforces the ongoing strategic dialogue between Burkina Faso and the United States, partners committed to the fight against terrorism and the promotion of security.
It demonstrates the willingness of both parties to maintain and strengthen this essential partnership, built on shared security interests and mutual respect.
For the Burkinabe government, led by the President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, this kind of exchange reaffirms the country’s openness and international credibility in addressing security challenges.
