Prime Minister discusses trade sector regulation policies with Minister of Commerce

Prime Minister Mohamed Hassan Al-Ta’aishi met with Minister of Commerce Mohamed Ismail (Arkan) to discuss domestic and foreign trade issues, as part of the Peace Government’s plan to establish state structures and authority in accordance with the constitutional and legal references agreed upon in Sudan’s Founding Charter.

The meeting addressed the ministry’s priorities and the formation of its various departments, as well as ways to facilitate and coordinate the work of chambers of commerce, employers’ organizations, standardization and metrology bodies, and consumer protection agencies.

The objective is to build effective institutions to regulate trade through institutional oversight of commercial sectors and coordination with relevant ministries and institutions.

Minister of Commerce Mohamed Ismail (Arkan) stated that they discussed with the Prime Minister the policies, legislation, laws, and regulations governing the Ministry of Commerce’s work, consumer protection, anti-monopoly measures, and the guarantee of free competition.

He emphasized the need to strengthen controls and quality assurance to ensure the availability and free flow of goods in markets, organize market operations, and combat smuggling.

The Minister of Commerce also affirmed that they would work in coordination with the Ministry of Finance and its relevant departments, the Ministry of Interior, and the Ministry of Transport to regulate trade and protect the economy and national resources.
