Burkina Faso forces thwart terrorist attack in Sono: A strategic victory

In Burkina Faso’s Kossi province, defense forces have once again demonstrated their resolve by successfully repelling a terrorist attack targeting the village of Sono.

Through a swift and well-coordinated response, soldiers from the 10th Rapid Intervention Battalion (BIR 10), based in Dédougou, supported by Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP), neutralized around ten terrorists, securing the area and sparing local populations from potential tragedy.

The attack, launched by armed groups, was swiftly countered by Burkinabe forces.

The rapid reaction and seamless coordination between the military and the VDP effectively thwarted the assault, preventing civilian casualties and material damage.

This operation highlights the critical collaboration between regular forces and the VDP, whose deep knowledge of the terrain and unwavering community commitment make them indispensable in the fight against terrorism.

The success in Sono underscores the resilience of Burkina Faso’s defense forces in the face of persistent terrorist threats.

Despite ongoing challenges, they continue to protect civilians and push back against insurgents.

This victory not only bolsters public confidence in the armed forces but also renews hope for a gradual return to stability and peace in the country.
