Football/ Rigobert Song’s uncertain role as Central African Republic Coach deepens Tensions

The Central African Football Federation (FCF) continues to sideline Rigobert Song, despite his appointment as national team coach by the Ministry of Sports. This ongoing conflict has left Song in a precarious position, unable to take full control of the team. On Thursday, Song admitted his limited authority, stating he will “officially assume his role after the FIFA international break in March.”

This delay means local coach Eloge Enza-Yamissi, backed by the FCF, will lead the “Les Fauves du Bas-Oubangui” in their upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Madagascar and Mali on March 19 and 24.

The federation’s refusal to recognize Song’s appointment has created a power struggle, undermining the team’s preparation and unity.

Song’s sidelining highlights the growing rift between the Ministry of Sports and the FCF, raising concerns about governance and stability within Central African football.

As the team faces crucial matches, the unresolved conflict threatens to derail their campaign, leaving fans and players caught in the crossfire.

The situation underscores the urgent need for resolution to ensure the team’s success and restore confidence in the sport’s leadership.
