Burkina Faso/ Ministry of Justice achieves exceptional performance in July 2026

The Ministry of Justice recorded an outstanding performance in July 2026. According to official figures, 961,725,249 CFA francs were recovered in a single month, representing an achievement rate of 371% compared to projections. This remarkable result attests to the effectiveness of the reforms undertaken as part of the fight against economic impunity and corruption, under the impetus of Minister Edasso Rodrigue Bayala.

This financial windfall comes from two main sources: 600,860,444 CFA francs from revenue related to judicial proceedings, and 360,864,805 CFA francs collected in fines. This performance is part of a national drive to strengthen domestic resource mobilization, which constitutes a pillar of Burkina Faso’s financial sovereignty.

The Ministry of Justice is not resting on this monthly record. As part of the “Empty Records” operation, more than 4,000 cases have been processed against an annual target of 5,000, with over 3 billion CFA francs recovered in fines and court costs. For the entire year 2025, the processing of 394 corruption and blood-crime cases generated more than 32 billion CFA francs in revenue.

The offensive to recover state debts, launched in April 2026, is also bearing fruit. The State Judicial Agent (AJE) inherited a portfolio of receivables estimated at 107 billion CFA francs, including more than 10,000 unpaid checks. The government has granted debtors an eight-day grace period before initiating forced recovery procedures.

Minister Bayala has called on citizens to collaborate with state services in reporting corruption, with rewards of up to 30 million CFA francs for whistleblowers.

This measure strengthens the mobilization against impunity and encourages accountability, in a dynamic where every citizen becomes an actor in the preservation of public funds.
