Burkina Faso exposes internal enemies: Nationwide manhunt for terrorist collaborators

April 1, 2025 – In a startling revelation that underscores Burkina Faso’s deepening security crisis, the Ministry of Security today unmasked a network of high-profile individuals allegedly collaborating with terrorist groups. Among those now subject to an intensive manhunt are controversial figures Ahmed Newton Barry, Naïm Touré, Abdoulaye Barry, and Aminata Rachow – accused of fuelling instability through sophisticated information warfare.
The fifth columnists
Authorities allege these “stateless agitators” have waged a relentless propaganda campaign, systematically vilifying Burkina Faso’s armed forces while whitewashing terrorist atrocities.
Their playbook? Portray the FDS and VDP as oppressors while casting bloodthirsty militants as liberators – a dangerous narrative designed to erode public trust and cripple counterterrorism efforts.
Terrorist ties exposed
Security sources reveal disturbing connections between the wanted individuals and jihadist networks. Oumar Coulibaly, a Burkinabe exile in Côte d’Ivoire, reportedly joined the conspiracy in February under directives from Naïm Touré and Wassim Nasr – the latter a known JNIM strategist.
This bombshell confirms long-held suspicions about foreign-backed efforts to destabilize not just Burkina Faso, but the entire Sahel region.
Patriotic duty calls
With the nation’s survival at stake, authorities issued an urgent mobilization order: “Every citizen must become a guardian of national security.”
The ministry emphasized that even trivial observations could prove vital, warning that silence equals complicity in the face of terrorism.
As Defense Minister General Kassoum Coulibaly stated: “This war won’t be won by soldiers alone – it requires the awakened conscience of every patriot.”
The government has activated emergency hotlines (199, 1010, 16, 17) for anonymous tips, while security forces conduct nationwide operations to apprehend the suspects.
