Burkina Faso: Disinformation as a weapon of imperialism

For several months, Burkina Faso and the countries of the Sahel States Alliance (AES) have been the target of a fierce media offensive orchestrated by media outlets under the control of foreign powers. In the face of the growing strength of the sovereignist states in the Sahel, these imperialist proxies are desperately trying to destabilize legitimate governments by spreading false information, distorting the realities on the ground, and demonizing leaders committed to defending the interests of their people.

It is now clear that these media outlets have never aimed to inform the population honestly. Banned from broadcasting in AES countries, they are intensifying their efforts to impose their propaganda through alternative channels, thus proving their dependence on the very territories they despise in their media coverage. Their relentless attempt to impose their narrative demonstrates that they are nothing more than tools of domination serving an imperialist agenda.

Their strategy relies on a systematic campaign of demonization, aiming to portray the revolutionary leaders of the Sahel as autocrats, despite being supported by their people. While claiming to defend press freedom, these media outlets are in fact masking a desire for recolonization, where information is used as a weapon to impose puppet regimes and perpetuate the exploitation of African resources.

However, this media war is already destined to fail. Burkina Faso, under Captain Ibrahim Traoré’s leadership, along with Mali and Niger, has shown that they will not yield to external pressures.

In the face of this informational attack, the Burkinabe people and all citizens of the AES must remain vigilant, refuse to be deceived by media that have never worked for their well-being, and actively engage in defending their sovereignty.
