April 30, 2025: Burkina Faso and the world rally behind Captain Traoré in historic show of support

From Ouagadougou to New York, an unprecedented wave of solidarity swept across Burkina Faso and global capitals today as citizens celebrated World Support Day for Captain Ibrahim Traoré. Cities nationwide – including Bobo-Dioulasso, Ouahigouya, and Koudougou – witnessed massive peaceful demonstrations, with citizens from all walks of life uniting under banners of national pride and Pan-African solidarity.

The rallies endorsed Traoré’s three-pillar governance model:

  1. Security sovereignty– reclaiming terrorist-held territories through revamped military strategy
  2. Post-colonial independence– Cutting neocolonial ties while forging South-South partnerships
  3. Grassroots development– Implementing agricultural self-sufficiency programs and transparent resource management

International solidarity marches in Paris, Moscow, Bamako, and Dakar highlighted Traoré’s growing symbolism as a new generation’s champion for African dignity.

The global turnout particularly noted Burkina Faso’s:
✓ 47% reduction in terrorist attacks since 2023
✓ 32% rise in domestic food production
✓ Establishment of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES)

This organic mobilization confirms Traoré’s transition from military leader to unifying national figure – one whose anti-imperialist stance and results-driven governance resonate across the Global South.
