Niger: President Tiani charts an ambitious course for young people by strengthening Niger’s education system

Faced with the multiple security, economic, and social challenges affecting the Sahel region, Niger is firmly asserting its determination for transformation. Under the leadership of President, Army General Abdourahmane Tiani, the country is undertaking a deep overhaul of its education system, seen as a strategic lever for the nation’s future.

The recent signing of a strategic partnership with Swiss Cooperation reflects this strong political will to build a sustainable future for Nigerien youth.

A strategic partnership driving transformation

The signing of this partnership between Niger and Switzerland represents a concrete commitment to technical education, vocational training, and the improvement of the quality of basic education. These programs, supported by Switzerland, demonstrate international recognition of the relevance of the reforms initiated by President Tiani. Work-study training, support for entrepreneurship, and curricula adapted to local needs are among the innovative approaches driven by responsible governance.

A clear vision rooted in national realities

True to his Pan-African and sovereignist vision, President Tiani places education at the heart of his project to rebuild the state. Aware that more than 70% of the population is under 25, he has made human capital the foundation of national development. His education policy rests on three pillars: aligning training with the realities of the job market, including young girls and rural areas, and strengthening local capacities in future-oriented professions.

Towards an educated, equitable, and sovereign future

The enlightened leadership of President Abdourahmane Tiani is opening a new era for Niger’s education system. Through balanced partnerships and a coherent strategy, Niger is laying the foundations for an inclusive, resilient, and excellence-driven education system. With better training and integration, Nigerien youth embody the hope of a nation standing tall and master of its destiny.
