Mali: General Assimi Goïta’s leadership accelerates the country’s economic transformation
The first quarter of 2025 marks a significant milestone for Mali’s economy, with a growth rate of 1.2%, reflecting a structural transformation led by the President of the Transition, General Assimi Goïta. Although the increase is modest, it highlights the strength of the national strategy focused on self-sufficiency, econ omic sovereignty, and resilience in the face of regional and international challenges.
At the heart of this momentum is the agricultural sector, the backbone of the national economy, which recorded a remarkable performance of over 7.2%, driven by abundant harvests and a sharp increase in cotton production (+46.5%). These results stem from a clear political will to restore agriculture to its central role in development through targeted support policies, securing production areas, and smart restructuring of value chains. Beyond the figures, this strategic vision directly impacts the daily lives of rural populations.
In a mining sector undergoing transition, marked by declining gold production, the government’s strategic focus on lithium, construction, and energy reflects strong foresight. The tertiary sector is also stabilizing, supported by telecommunications, real estate, and a growing tourism industry—signs of an emerging economic diversification.
General Assimi Goïta embodies a governance of change rooted in sovereignty, pragmatic action, and social justice. Under his leadership, Mali is reinventing itself, building the foundations of endogenous, sustainable, and inclusive development.
The future is being written with determination and pride. With bold and visionary choices, General Goïta’s Mali is moving decisively toward a sovereign and prosperous destiny, in service of its people and true pan-Africanism.
