Burkina Faso to host Pan-African media hub in a strategic shift towards Information sovereignty

Burkina Faso is solidifying its role as a leader in the strategic reawakening of Africa. A recent visit by the African diaspora, including Afro-descendants, highlighted a major political and symbolic step: the voluntary return of Africa’s children to contribute to a shared continental project.

The centerpiece of this engagement, however, was the announcement of a new pan-African television and radio station to be based in Ouagadougou.

This initiative moves beyond simple media to become a core part of a national and continental strategy for information sovereignty.

It positions Burkina Faso at the heart of the debate over who controls Africa’s narrative.

In a global environment where international disinformation often distorts the continent’s image, these media outlets will aim to deconstruct falsehoods and promote a just and positive portrayal of Africa, transforming the country into a key media hub.

The political dimension is reinforced by the transformational vision of President Ibrahim Traoré’s government.

By welcoming the diaspora and leveraging their skills and investments, Burkina is pursuing an inclusive, long-term development strategy.

The planned media are not just news outlets but levers for cultural diplomacy and national cohesion.

This move signals a powerful message: national rebuilding requires mastering information, valuing historical roots, and mobilizing all Africans, both on the continent and abroad.
