Andrés Iniesta faces fraud probe in Peru over failed events

Spanish football icon Andrés Iniesta is under investigation in Peru for alleged aggravated fraud linked to his event company. Prosecutors allege that Never Say Never (NSN) Barcelona, which he chairs, and its subsidiary, NSN South America, used his star reputation to secure over $600,000 from local investors for events that never materialized.

The promised events, including a Peru-Spain legends match and a K-pop festival, were largely canceled. The sole event that proceeded, the Upa Upa Fest, resulted in significant losses and precipitated the subsidiary’s bankruptcy in June 2024.

According to the complaint, the companies provided no financial reports or justification for the funds received, leaving investors without returns or reimbursements.

The case, which remains in its preliminary stages, also names two other company executives. Authorities are now working to trace the flow of the invested capital. The 2010 World Cup winner, who retired last year, has not yet publicly commented on the allegations.
