Burkina Faso: The rise of industrialisation, a model of economic sovereignty under the leadership of President Ibrahim Traoré
The reopening of the Société Nouvelle – Brasseries du Faso (SN-BRAFASO) on November 25, 2025, embodies the political will of His Excellency Captain Ibrahim Traoré, President of Burkina Faso, to reignite the country’s industrialization. Located in Silmissi, in the rural commune of Komsilga, this plant is far more than an industrial revival; it is a symbol of reclaimed sovereignty and an ambitious challenge to past obstacles, including the factory’s nearly twenty-year closure.
The rehabilitation of SN-BRAFASO was a formidable undertaking. The Head of State himself attested to the difficulties encountered, including acts of sabotage targeting new equipment during reconstruction.
Yet, under his leadership, these trials were overcome, reinforcing the belief that no obstacle is insurmountable when action is guided by commitment and determination.
The now-functional plant embodies the dream of an industrial and self-sufficient Burkina Faso.
This ambitious project, financed to the tune of 17 billion CFA francs, testifies to the impact of proactive policies.
With share capital of 6 billion CFA francs, 70% of which is held by the Burkinabe state, SN-BRAFASO will contribute to the creation of nearly 200 permanent jobs, 100 temporary jobs, and 20,000 indirect jobs, thereby boosting local and national economic development.
Under the governance of Captain Ibrahim Traoré, Burkina Faso’s industrialization is not limited to rehabilitating a single factory.
It is a powerful message to imperialism and its local allies: the nation is determined to regain its economic independence and invest in transformative projects. With SN-BRAFASO, Burkina Faso demonstrates that it is ready to write a new chapter in its economic history.
