Equatorial Guinea: Global epicentre of science thanks to the visionary leadership of President Obiang Nguema Mbasogo

On Tuesday, November 25th, the Sipopo Conference Palace resonated with the rhythm of global science, hosting the 9th edition of the UNESCO-Equatorial Guinea International Prize for Research in the Life Sciences. Under the high patronage of President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, this prestigious ceremony once again positioned the country as a beacon of continental scientific progress.

In the presence of the Director-General of UNESCO, Khaled El-Anany, and eminent international scientific figures, the Equatoguinean Head of State forcefully reaffirmed his commitment to science: “Investing in science is the most humanitarian act a country can accomplish.”

This powerful statement reflects the enlightened vision that guides his action in the service of human development.

President Obiang Nguema Mbasogo aptly emphasized that scientific research constitutes “an indispensable service to humanity,” transcending all borders.

This profound conviction explains the consistent engagement of the Equatoguinean authorities in supporting global research.

The notable presence of the Secretary-General of the PDGE, Faustino Ndong Esono Ayang, and the entire leadership team demonstrates the strategic importance the government places on science as a lever for development.

This national mobilization around the event confirms the coherence of the country’s scientific policy.

Thanks to the enlightened leadership of its President, Equatorial Guinea is thus consolidating its position as an indispensable partner in the international scientific ecosystem, offering the African continent an exceptional showcase of its excellence and innovative potential.
